Kaş

The Land of Lights

Lycia

As being one of the Lycian Way settlements, Kaş is located at the westernmost
part of Antalya. It is 160 km away from Dalaman Airport and 200 km from Antalya
Airport.
According to the archaeological information, its name in the native Lycian
language was Habessos or Habesa. During the Hellenic age, it was known as
Antiphellos, which later evolved into Andifli. Being surrounded by the mountains,
having the Greek island Meis and the blue Mediterranean on the south, Kaş as one
of the most beautiful spots in Turkey. According to an urban legend, the island
has the shape and meaning of ‘the eye’ in Greek, and in Turkish Kaş means
‘eyebrow’, arching over the eye, thus making an interesting story.
Kaş is one of the paradise spots of our country with all its endemic plants, sea
turtles, birds and Mediterranean trees.
Colourful bougainvillaea, jasmines, citrus trees decorate the authentic streets
shaded with the Ottoman ‘jumba’ style balconies, beaches surrounded by the
olive trees and many more activities to lighten up your holiday.
As it is located on the Lycian way, the county has many ancient sites such as
Patara, Myra, Simena, Xanthos and Letoon.
Kaputaş Beach, Hidayet Cove, Limanagzi Cove, Big and Small Pebble Beaches,
Akçagerme, İnceboğaz and Patara Beaches and of course many other coves
which you could explore with Kekova tour boats are among the best spots for
swimming.
Moreover, for the adventurers, mountain pastures of Gömbe, Ottoman era historic
town of Elmali, surrounding villages, Demre, Adrasan, Çıralı and Olympos are
worth to explore.
